The Jive Aces were at Bridlington Spa last Friday evening and a large number of Hessle Jive Club Members went along to see them. We had already seen them for ourselves when they came to Hessle Town Hall in April, but for those of us who enjoyed them and wanted to see more, this was an ideal opportunity.
The band are one of the top Jive and Swing Bands in the country and they didn’t disappoint. When they came to Hessle they modified their music to suit us as Jive is a lot faster than Modern Jive. This time they were playing to a wider audience so we got a chance to sit back and listen as well as dance. It was fantastic to see the Jive and Lindy Hop dancers enjoying the music and the show too.
Jive Aces are a very friendly group of guys and they were really pleased that so many of us were there. They were off to Italy the next day and so they did a song about Italy and asked Barbara, one of our members to join them – how they knew she was Italian I'm not sure. Barbara got into the part really well while the band serenaded her, as the picture below shows!
It was a good night out and a chance to socialise with friends and make new ones. A few of us even made it to the chippie afterwards and ate our chips in the park, looking over the sea and watching the reflection of the almost full moon on the water! A lovely end to a lovely evening. Let’s hope we can do more of these.
